NRHM – BILL & MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION

NATIONAL RURAL HEALTH MISSION (NRHM) BILL & MELINDA GATES FOUNDATION This is a Nation-wide programme launched by Govt of India during 14th April 2005. The objective of this programme is to address the rural and tribal communities about the total health program implemented by the Central and State Government. RUHSA-CMC (Christian Medical College), Vellore is the Nodal Agency for this programme. There are five NGOs working in five selected districts of Tamil Nadu. Focus group discussion is one of the main activities of this programme to gauge their knowledge. We are implementing this project in Pappireddipatti block of Dharmapuri District. Presently we have selected 180 remote villages. This programme has been known in the rural area which focuses more on the total health programme launched by the central and state Government. NATIONAL WASTE LAND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (NWDP) GOVT OF INDIA During 1986 we have been instructed by the Ministry of Forest and environment to cover 150 villages to raise nursery and plant short term and perennial species to promote vegetation. The entire work has been carried out by the members of SHGs.
